A new atmosphere of fear is being created in the country: Nahid Islam

Regarding the obstruction of BNP leaders and activists by Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) leaders in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar, the party’s convener Nahid Islam said, “An attempt has been made to attack the NCP convoy in Chakaria. It has been obstructed. A new atmosphere of fear is being created in the country. The programs of a political party are being obstructed. If such a situation is created, the people will take to the streets again.” He said these things at a rally in Bandarban on Saturday (July 19) as part of the July Padyatra. Nahid Islam said, the July Uprising was not just a movement to overthrow the government, we wanted to rebuild the country anew. The government has changed, but there has been no change in that system. The NCP convener said, the Mujibabad constitution has always indulged in fascism and created division. Those who have committed genocide, looted for years, and deprived people of their rights must be brought to justice. Nahid Islam also expressed hope that this district of the Chittagong Hill Tracts will become a strong base for the NCP. Incidentally, earlier this afternoon, NCP leaders faced obstacles in Eidgaon and Chakaria due to allegations of NCP leader Nasiruddin Patwari’s ugly remarks alluding to BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed in Cox’s Bazar. When BNP leaders and activists took to the streets to protest, the party could not hold its scheduled programs in these two upazilas.
