Jamaat leader, two killed in road accident on way to rally in Dhaka

Two people, including the Ameer of Khulna Dakop Upazila Jamaat, were killed in a road accident in Bhanga, Faridpur on their way to attend a Jamaat-e-Islami rally at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. At least 10 people were injured. The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Bhanga at 3 am on Friday (July 18). The injured have been admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Some of them are said to be in critical condition. Police said that a bus carrying workers and supporters from Khulna had left for the Jamaat national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. When the bus stopped at the entrance of the expressway, two buses and a pickup truck hit it from behind. Dakop Upazila Jamaat Ameer Muhammad Abu Saeed died on the spot. The injured were rescued and taken to the hospital, where a Jamaat worker died while undergoing treatment. Also, one person was killed in a head-on collision between two auto-rickshaws in Bhangarh’s Nasirabad area.
