RAB targets robbers in Teknaf, arrests robbers

In Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, RAB-15 has arrested Mohammad Rubel, one of the associates of notorious robber Shafi and an accused in multiple cases, with weapons and bullets. This information was given by RAB-15’s commander Lieutenant Colonel Kamrul Hasan at a press conference organized at the Cox’s Bazar office on Wednesday afternoon. Arrested Mohammad Rubel (27) is the son of Abdul Gafur of Paschim Leda area of Hnila union in Teknaf. RAB said in the press conference that based on intelligence information, it was learned that notorious terrorist Shafi the robber is staying at the house of robber Khalek of Paschim Leda area with his armed associates. In view of this, a smart RAB-15 operation team conducted a raid there on Tuesday evening. At the beginning of the raid, Shafi and his team fired at RAB and fled. Chasing them, RAB arrested Shafi’s associate Rubel with a loaded weapon. Later, according to Rubel’s testimony in front of the witnesses present, 1 shotgun, 3 local weapons (local guns), 12 live bullets, 42 empty shotgun and LG cartridges and 2 smartphones abandoned by his associates were recovered. The RAB captain said that the identities of 11 terrorists who were with the robber Shafi were identified in the operation. They are: Md. Alam, Md. Khalek, Syed Noor, Russell alias Abuiya, Kamal Hossain, Anwar Sadek, Abdur Rahman, Rabiul Hasan alias Rabia, Abdul Awal alias Bura Patia, Mohammad Asif and Imam Hossain. He also said that the gang has been involved in various crimes including robbery, ransom collection, kidnapping and extortion in the deep hills and plains of Teknaf for a long time. There are a total of 17 cases against robber Shafi, including 5 kidnappings, 4 weapons, 2 preparation for robbery, 3 fights, 2 murders and 1 for obstructing official duties. RAB’s operation to arrest him and his associates is ongoing.
