Land dispute: 15-year-old accused in child ‘rape attempt’ case!

A child named Ramzan Mollah (15) has been accused in a rape attempt case in Kashiani, Gopalganj due to a land dispute. Meanwhile, the witness in the case himself does not know in which case and why he has been made a witness. The incident took place on Thursday (July 10) in Dakshin Fukra village of Fukra union in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj. The child’s father, Rabiul Mollah, said that for the past 8 months, there has been a dispute with his neighbor Anis Mollah over 4.5 percent of the land. Last Tuesday (July 8), the two sides argued over the laying of a cable line over the land. The next day, Wednesday, they again argued over cutting bamboo on the land. Angered by this, Anis Molya filed a complaint with his wife Tania Begum against Rabiul Molya’s son Ramzan Molya, an eighth-grade student, at the police station on Thursday, alleging that he attempted to rape a second-grade schoolgirl. On Thursday afternoon, the police took the child Ramzan from his home without investigation. After filing a case on the same day, the police sent the child Ramzan to the juvenile correctional facility through the court the next day. The child is currently at the Jessore Child Development Center. On Sunday (July 13), when talking to the second witness in the case and the plaintiff’s closest neighbor, Beli Begum, she said, “I don’t know anything about the incident and the witness in the case. I don’t even know who gave me my name.” According to the residents of the area, no incident of rape or attempted rape took place. There had been a long-standing dispute between them over land-related issues. The incident was completely fabricated and false. However, the case was filed on the orders of a senior police officer. When the plaintiff in the case, Tania Begum, called her mobile phone, her husband Anis Molya picked up the phone and said, “I don’t want to talk to you about this matter. You write down what the locals say. If necessary, go to the police station and find out.” On Sunday, Kashiani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamal Hossain admitted the truth of the case and said, “The case was filed based on the complaint. An investigation will be conducted, and if it is false, a case will be filed against them as well. The case was filed after discussing it with the higher authorities.”
