Another 162 Bangladeshis return home from Libya
162 Bangladeshis who were trapped by a mafia gang in Libya have returned home. The plane carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 7:30 am on Wednesday (July 9). After landing in Dhaka, officials of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) spoke to the victims. The victims said that they had gone to Libya for employment. But when they did not find work there, the brokers tempted them to send them to Europe. Later, they were detained in different parts of the country and tortured. They further alleged that the brokers extorted lakhs of taka from their relatives by detaining them. They also alleged that the Bangladeshi brokers conspired with the locals to torture them.
