A group is trying to portray BNP as anti-reform: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that a group is systematically trying to portray BNP as anti-reform. After the consensus commission’s proposal, the reform is being delayed by proposing new proposals again. He said this at an emergency press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, the capital, on Sunday (July 6). Mirza Fakhrul said that a few individuals, a group will continue to spread propaganda against BNP, and the people will believe it? The people do not believe it. Some urban people are not the people of the country. The BNP Secretary General said that some parties are talking about BNP’s reforms. There is no room to question BNP’s sincerity regarding reforms. However, BNP does not support the proposal to weaken important institutions in the name of reform. He also said that new proposals are coming every day, which if they are in the interest of the people, the people will welcome them. But, no major change related to the interests of the people should be accepted without involving them. Those who want to delay the elections are not pro-democracy forces, not pro-July-August coup forces. At this time, the BNP Secretary General called on everyone to rise above party interests and play a role in building the country. At the press conference, party standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said that the statement made by the consensus commission regarding the Prime Minister’s term is unclear. BNP does not agree with the concept of the National Constitutional Council.
