JSS worker shot to dead in Rangamati

A Jana Samhati Samiti worker named Kamal Bikash Chakma (48) was shot dead in Rupban village in Subalong union of Barkal upazila of Rangamati.

A group of armed miscreants entered a shop in the local Rupban market and shot him at him at around 5 pm on Wednesday. He died on the spot, locals said.

The deceased Kamal Bikash Chakma is said to be the son of Jagannath Chakma of Dhebachara village in Rangamati Sadar upazila. Local sources said he was a fundraiser for the Jana Samhati Samiti in that area.

In this regard, Barkal police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Kay Kislu told our time on Wednesday night, “We have received information about a person being shot dead in the Subalong area. However, the area is far from Barkal police station. It is already evening to get the news. We will know the details if we go to the spot tomorrow, Thursday.”
