Ukraine ready for 30-day ceasefire with Russia

According to a report by the British media outlet BBC, after a meeting between the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, Kiev said that Ukraine is ready to accept the US proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire agreement with Russia.

In this regard, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, ‘I will present this proposal to Russia because the responsibility for making the decision now lies with them.’

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, ‘Now the responsibility lies with the United States to convince Russia to agree to this ‘positive’ proposal.’

The first formal meeting between the two countries was held in Jeddah on Tuesday after the altercation between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

Incidentally, Washington recently stopped providing intelligence information after suspending military aid to Ukraine.

Therefore, in a joint statement, the US said that it would immediately resume intelligence sharing and security assistance with Ukraine.

In addition, both the United States and Ukraine said in their statements that both delegations agreed to announce the names of their negotiating teams and to immediately begin negotiations aimed at a lasting peace that ensures the long-term security of Ukraine.

At a press conference in Jeddah on Tuesday, Rubio said, “I hope that Russia will also accept this proposal.”

He said, “Ukraine is ready to cease fire and start negotiations. However, if Russia rejects this proposal, then unfortunately we will understand what the obstacle to peace was here.”

Rubio also said, “Today we made a proposal, which the Ukrainians accepted. It is to enter into a ceasefire and participate in immediate negotiations. We will now take this proposal to Russia and we hope that they will say yes to establishing peace. Because the ball is now in their court.”

It is worth noting that earlier, a partial ceasefire was proposed by Ukraine. However, the news that Kiev had formally proposed a ceasefire in the sea and air during Tuesday’s talks was also widely reported in various international media outlets.
