Fire in Sattala slum in Mohakhali brought under control, most houses burnt down
The fire in a Sattala slum in the capital’s Mohakhali has been brought under control. The fire was brought under control by eight fire service units at 5:20 am on Wednesday after an effort of 1 hour and 42 minutes.
No casualties were reported in the fire. However, most of the houses in the slum have been burnt down, said Fire Service Media Cell Officer Khairul Islam Rony.
Earlier, Fire Service Duty Officer Rakibul Hasan had said that the fire broke out in the Sattala slum at 3:38 am on Tuesday.
Fire Service officials said that the first unit of the fire service started extinguishing the fire at the spot within 10 minutes after receiving the news of the fire. Later, several more units left for the spot one by one. Eight units reached the spot by 5 am and brought the fire under control.
Fire Service officials could not immediately give the extent of the damage.
