New twist in Shakib’s game in DPL

Shakib Al Hasan is unable to return to the country due to the changing political situation. He could not even bid farewell to the long version by playing Tests on home soil. Chittagong Kings could not even include him in the team in the BPL. In the meantime, Shakib entered the discussion by registering his name for the Legends of Rupganj club in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). However, this time the incident took a new turn.

The DPL team transfer, which started yesterday on Saturday, is going on until Sunday. When the clubs were busy organizing their teams, it was learned that Shakib had requested not to make the transfer. Rupganj also informed the CCDM about the matter.

Tariqul Islam Titu, on behalf of the Rupganj team, told the media, ‘You all know that yesterday we participated in the transfer process for Shakib Al Hasan to play for Legends of Rupganj. But today we spoke to Shakib. He has made a request to us to postpone his transfer for the time being.’

Titu also said, ‘We have informed the CCDM by writing a letter. With full respect for Shakib, we have informed the CCDM about his request from our club. He said that when he comes back to the country…if he wants to play in our team from the previous team, we will include him in the team later.’

Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was elected from Magura-1 constituency in the 12th National Parliament election on the nomination of the Awami League. Entering politics is a dead end for him. He has been under pressure since the fall of the Awami League government in the student-public uprising on August 5. A murder case has also been filed against him. Shakib could not even retire after playing a Test match against South Africa on home soil. Even after reaching Dubai, he had to return to the United States due to ‘adverse circumstances’. Chittagong Kings took him into the BPL but could not play him.

Apart from the off-field issues, Shakib’s current condition in cricket is not very good either. He can only play as a batter due to a bowling ban. Despite his career being in doubt after all these incidents, Shakib registered for the DPL by submitting his documents online yesterday.
