Businessman shot in Banasree, 200 bhori gold looted
A gold trader named Anwar Hossain (43) was shot dead by terrorists in Banasree area of Rampura, Dhaka. It has been alleged that 200 bhori of gold and cash were stolen from him at that time. The injured person has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The incident took place in front of house number 20 on Road No. 7, Block D, Banasree at around 10:30 pm on Sunday. He is the owner of Alankar Jewellers on Road No. 5, Block C, Banasree.
The injured person’s friend, Mojibur Rahman, who took him to the hospital, gave this information.
Upon receiving the news, the businessman’s son Saymon rushed to the hospital. He said that his father was returning home after closing his business as usual and was the victim of the incident.
Police and relatives of the businessman said that Anwar Hossain was returning home at night. At that time, terrorists on several motorcycles stopped him. They tried to snatch 200 bhori of gold and cash from him. When Anwar Hossain resisted, the terrorists shot him one after another and snatched the gold and cash. Later, local people rescued the bullet-injured Anwar Hossain and took him to DMCH Hospital.
Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the police outpost at the hospital, said that the businessman had several bullet marks on his body. He is undergoing treatment at the hospital’s emergency department. The incident has been reported to Rampura Police Station.
