    Dhaka ranks second in pollution with ‘unhealthy’ air

    Dhaka has been in the top three of the most polluted cities in the world almost every day recently. Today, Dhaka is in second place in the air pollution list. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9:43 am today, Sunday, the air quality in Dhaka was 183. This level is called ‘unhealthy’ in terms of air quality.

    Apart from this, Dakar, the capital of Senegal, is in first place with a score of 193. Wuhan, China, is in third place with a score of 180. Delhi, India, is in fourth place with a score of 180 and Kampala, Uganda, is in fifth place with a score of 179.

    According to the information, if the AQI score is between 101 and 200, it is considered ‘unhealthy’, if it is between 201 and 300, it is considered ‘very unhealthy’ and if it is between 301 and 400, it is considered ‘hazardous’.

    Experts have been blaming brick kilns, vehicle smoke and dust from construction sites for air pollution in Dhaka. This severe pollution is creating serious health risks. It is harmful to people of all ages. Air pollution is especially harmful to children, the sick, the elderly, and pregnant women.
