Formation of ‘National Consensus Commission’ led by Chief Advisor
The National Consensus Commission has been formed under the leadership of the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The members of this commission are the heads of six commissions. The commission will start working from February 15.
This information was given in a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday.
It said that the Bangladesh government has formed a commission called the ‘National Consensus Commission’ after considering the recommendations of the reform commissions and with the approval of the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government. The commission is chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the vice-chaired by the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, Professor Ali Riaz.
In addition, the members of the commission are – Public Administration Reform Commission Head Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, Police Reform Commission Head Safar Raj Hossain, Electoral Reform Commission Head Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Emdadul Haque of the Judicial Reform Commission and Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission Head Dr. Iftekharuzzaman.
Earlier, during his address to the nation on the last Victory Day, the Chief Advisor had announced the decision to form a National Consensus Commission. He said that the first task of this new commission would be to quickly create consensus on the decisions that are necessary for holding the elections and to finalize the advice on when the elections can be held after discussing with everyone.
