What Mirza Fakhrul said after the meeting with the chief advisor
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the interim government is working to organize the national elections as soon as possible. The BNP Secretary General gave this information after a meeting with Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Monday.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said. ‘The Chief Advisor and those who were with him have assured us that they will make arrangements for the elections very soon and he has said that they are working to hold the elections by December. We hope that he will announce a roadmap very soon that the people expect. Through that, we expect the elections to be completed by December, and the people are also expecting it.’
Today, an advisor said that they have taken a policy decision on local government elections before the national elections, and further measures will be taken after discussions. In response to a question from journalists, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘We will not agree on the local government elections in any way. We have made it clear before, and we still say that there will be no elections before the national government.’
In response to a question from reporters on when the chief advisor would announce the roadmap, he said, ‘They will decide that. But they will probably do something by the 15th.’
