Saudi Arabia bans child companions for Hajj

Saudi Arabia has banned children from accompanying pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj season. The ban was announced in a statement by the country’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The Middle East-based media outlet Gulf News confirmed the information in a report.

The statement said, “This decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of children from all the risks associated with intense crowds every year and to avoid them facing any harm during the Hajj pilgrimage.”

The ministry also announced that priority will be given to those who have not performed Hajj before in 2025.

The statement said that registration for this year’s Hajj can be done through the Nusuk app and the Saudi government’s online portal. Registration has already been officially launched for Saudi citizens and residents through these two channels. Pilgrims must submit their information verification, adding companions and requests to change mahrams online or through the Nusuk app.
