Sayeedi’s two sons to run for Jamaat in two seats
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced its candidates for three constituencies in Pirojpur district in the upcoming national parliamentary elections. Two sons of Delwar Hossain Sayedee are the Jamaat’s candidates for two of them.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal announced the names of his party’s candidates for three constituencies in Pirojpur district at a meeting held at the Islami Foundation Auditorium in Bhandaria, Bhandaria, on Thursday.
Md. Fakoruddin Khan Rajib, a member of the party’s central Majlish-e-Sura and a member of the Barisal divisional regional team, was present at the time.
It is learnt that as per the decision of the party’s central committee, Masud Sayedee, the elder son of Delwar Hossain Sayedee, former chairman of Indurkani Upazila Parishad, has been declared as the candidate for Pirojpur-1 constituency (Pirojpur Sadar-Indurkani-Nazirpur), Shamim Sayedee, the elder son of Allama Sayedee, has been declared as the candidate for Pirojpur-2 constituency (Bhandaria-Kawkhali-Nesarabad), and Mr. Sharif Abdul Jalil, an assistant professor of Safa Degree College, a prominent social worker, has been declared as the candidate for Pirojpur-3 constituency comprising Mathbaria Upazila.
At that time, Advocate Moazzem Hossain said, ‘Vishwanandit Mufassir Delwar Hossain Sayedee was a popular personality in Pirojpur and the whole world. His family has immense popularity in Pirojpur. To capitalize on this popularity, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced its two sons as candidates for two seats in Pirojpur.
When asked about his candidacy, candidate Masud Sayedee said on Friday night, “We will try to fulfill the great responsibility that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has entrusted to us by nominating our two brothers as candidates for two seats in Pirojpur, InshaAllah. We will walk our path with the mercy of Allah and the love of the people.”
He said, “Just as our respected father served all people regardless of religion and caste, we also want to serve the people by standing by their side like his father. We want to make Pirojpur a developed and livable city free from drugs, terrorism and corruption. We want to establish an accountable governance system at all levels. We will work with the youth in the spirit of the great Liberation War of 1971 and building a happy and prosperous state without discrimination in 1924.” Our goal will be to develop young leadership to build the golden Bengal of our dreams.’
He further said, ‘Ninety percent of the visible development activities including infrastructure development, roads, bridges, culverts and other developmental activities in Pirojpur were built by my father Allama Sayedee. After that, many were members of parliament in this constituency. But the people of this area are witnesses, they did not do much for the development of the area. The most important thing is that the common people could not reach them. We want to bring change in this place. By the grace of Allah, if we two brothers are elected, we will be ready to listen to the people of all walks of life, we will always be by their side in happiness and sorrow, we will try our best for the overall development of the area, Insha Allah.’
