Court suspends order revoking Trump’s birthright citizenship
President Donald Trump issued an executive order to revoke birthright citizenship in the United States. This time, the court has suspended this order.
On Wednesday, local time, District Court Judge Deborah Boardman issued a rule and issued a preliminary stay on the president’s order throughout the United States.
Reuters reported that US Federal Court Judge Deborah Boardman issued a rule on Wednesday, which will no longer be effective throughout the United States.
Incidentally, according to the Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution, every person born in the United States has the right to citizenship. Meanwhile, President Trump’s proposal to repeal this law after coming to power sparked heated debate across the United States.
In light of this, a court in Washington state issued a temporary stay on this order last month. Judge Deborah Boardman issued another stay before the suspension expired on Wednesday.
Regarding this stay, Judge Deborah said, “President Trump’s executive order is inconsistent with a 125-year-old Supreme Court ruling and is contrary to more than two centuries of American history.”
Meanwhile, five pregnant women and two immigrant-rights groups filed a lawsuit in Maryland against this executive order. In light of this case, the court said, “The ban on the president’s order will remain in place until the case is resolved.”
On the other hand, legal analysts believe that this case to repeal the birthright citizenship law in the United States may eventually reach the Supreme Court.
