BCS officer who distributed Awami League leaflets gets asylum, two suspended

Two deputy registrars of the university have been temporarily suspended for sheltering BCS officer Mukib Mia, who distributed Awami League leaflets, at the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.

The order was issued in a notification signed by Registrar Sheikh Rezaul Karim with the approval of the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Latif on Tuesday.

The two deputy registrars are Md. Iliasur Rahman and Golam Sarwar.

The notification said that the accused Md. Iliasur Rahman and Golam Sarwar have been temporarily suspended from the university service for conduct contrary to service discipline, that is, for ‘misconduct’ as described in sub-rule 2(b) of the Service Rules-Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018 applicable to Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.

The two deputy registrars will be temporarily attached to the registrar’s office during the suspension period and will receive ‘food allowance’ as per the prevailing rules, the notification said.

It is worth noting that BCS officer Mukib Mia, who recently distributed Awami League leaflets, was arrested by members of the Police’s Intelligence Department (DB) from the house of Md. Iliasur Rahman in the Koel Bhaban of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
