Father kills daughter for using TikTok in Pakistan
A father killed his daughter for refusing to stop sharing videos on TikTok. He confessed to the crime and surrendered to the police after the murder. This information was revealed in a report by the British news agency Reuters.
The report said that the shooting incident took place on a street in the southwestern city of Quetta on Tuesday. The father, Anwar ul-Haq, initially confessed to the crime. Earlier, he had said that unidentified gunmen shot and killed his daughter. Anwar was produced in a Quetta court on Thursday.
Police said that the family had lived in the United States for about 25 years. They recently returned to Pakistan’s Muslim-majority Balochistan province. They also have US citizenship.
Quetta police officer Baloch said that the deceased teenager allegedly started creating “objectionable” content on the social media platform TikTok while she was in the United States. She continued to share videos on the platform even after returning to Pakistan. She did not listen to him even when he was told not to. Anwar’s brother-in-law has also been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder.
