Youth Party worker shot while returning from protest rally
Jubo Dal activist Monirul Biswas was shot while returning from a rally to protest the attack in Pansha, Rajbari. Monirul, son of Abbas Biswas of Patra village in Pansha upazila, has been admitted to Pansha Hospital.
The attack took place around 7:30 pm on Friday.
It is learnt that on Thursday afternoon, on his way to Pansha from Golabari in Patra, Pansha Upazila Jubo Dal leader and Zia Cyber Force Central Committee leader Farhad Hossain Sohag stopped him and started beating him indiscriminately with sticks, punches, bamboo sticks and iron rods. Later, the attackers cut his leg veins and took away Tk 3,30,000 and a mobile phone from his pocket and vandalized his motorcycle. At that time, his brother-in-law Kausar Hossain came forward and beat him too, snatched a gold chain from his neck and threatened to kill him and leave.
The injured Farhad Hossain Sohag said that he was attacked with the intention of killing him in a premeditated manner. The attackers were previously involved in Awami League politics, but now they are tarnishing the name of BNP. They were attacked last Thursday due to terrorist activities, extortion, occupation, looting and forced torture.
A protest rally was organized by the Union Jubo Dal on Friday afternoon at the Notun Bazar premises of Jagir, Pattar, Pangsha to protest the attack.
Pangsha Upazila Jubo Dal convener Ariful Islam Arif, Kalukhali Upazila Krishak Dal convener Anis Molla, district Chhatra Dal leader Md. Sajib Raja and others addressed the rally.
After the rally, leaders and activists of the Union Jubo Dal and its affiliated organizations protested demanding the arrest and trial of the terrorists who attacked Jubo Dal leader Farhad.
Meanwhile, two separate complaints have been filed at the Pangsha Model Police Station and the Army Camp in connection with the attack on Jubo Dal leader Farhad.
On their way back from the protest rally, the terrorists opened fire on them. In this, Union Jubo Dal activist Monirul Biswas was shot. He has been admitted to Pangsha Hospital.
Pangsha Police Station OC Mohammad Salah Uddin said that police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. The culprits will be brought to justice after the investigation.
