Boiler explosion at wood refinery, 2 people died.
Two people were killed in a boiler explosion at a wood processing plant in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah. Two more were injured in the incident. The incident took place at the Baluhar bus stand in the upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Milton (26), son of Omar Ali of Singiya village in Kotchandpur upazila, and Ram Kumar (55), son of Kshitish of the same village.
Locals said that the boiler of Mizanur Rahman’s wood processing plant in the area exploded while it was being heated with wood. Factory mechanics Milton and Ram died on the spot. Two others were injured. The injured were rescued and sent first to Kotchandpur Upazila Health Complex and later to Jessore.
Kotchandpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kabir Hossain Matubbar said, “I came to the spot after hearing the news of the incident. Two people have died and two others have been injured.” It is initially believed that the accident occurred due to excessive heat in the boiler.
