HMP virus detected in two children in India

Human Meta Pneumovirus or HMP virus has been detected in two children in India. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that evidence of the virus was found in the bodies of the two children during routine surveillance for lung infections. This information was revealed from a report in the Indian media at the time.

In a statement on Monday, the council said that the two infected are a three-month-old girl and an eight-month-old boy. Both are admitted to the Baptist Hospital in Bengaluru. They have been diagnosed with bronchopneumonia.

It is learned that the three-month-old child has been discharged after treatment. On January 3, the blood sample test report of the eight-month-old child came positive. He is still being treated in the hospital.

Neither of the two children has been taken out of the country recently. As a result, how this virus entered their bodies is being investigated. The authorities are monitoring the entire situation.

After the coronavirus, the ‘Human Meta Pneumovirus’ or (HMPV) is spreading panic around the world. Like Corona, this virus was first detected in China. The number of people infected with this lung infection has also increased in other countries of the world.
