    Earthquake felt in different parts of the country including Dhaka.

    An earthquake was felt in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka on Tuesday morning. The magnitude of it was 7.1 on the Richter scale. No damage from the earthquake was reported immediately.

    The earthquake was felt around 7 am on Tuesday. An officer of the Earthquake Observation and Research Center of the Meteorological Department Farzana Sultana, confirmed this information.

    She said an earthquake was felt in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, at 7:05 am today. A region in China, 618 kilometers away from Dhaka, was the epicenter of the earthquake.

    The US Geological Survey USGS said the quake’s epicentre was in China’s Zhejiang Autonomous Region, known as Tibet Autonomous Region. The magnitude of the quake that was felt around 7:05 am Bangladesh time was 7.1. The epicentre of the quake was 10 kilometres deep.

    The quake was felt in Nepal, India, Bhutan and China besides Bangladesh.

    Earlier this month, on January 3, an earthquake shook Dhaka and Sylhet along with different other parts of the country.
