Pakistan erupts in protests demanding Imran’s release

Pakistan erupts in protests demanding the release of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan. On Tuesday (August 5), hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and activists protested in various cities including Lahore and Karachi. They rallied in motor vehicles, rickshaws and other vehicles. At that time, the protesters clashed with the police. So far, the police have claimed to have arrested more than 150 protesters. 120 people were arrested in searches conducted overnight on Tuesday. The rest were arrested during the protests. On the other hand, PTI alleged that more than 200 people were arrested from Lahore alone. Earlier, Imran Khan, in a post on social media on Monday, called on his supporters to protest peacefully to protect democracy.
