    Protests in Syria over Christmas tree burning.

    Protest has taken a turn on burning of Christmas trees. Foreigners are involved, according to them it has arrested and is interrogating foreign fighters for allegedly involved in incident said the terrorist organization HTS-Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

    In majority, Christian is seen, Central Syrian city, a video, Suqaylabiyah- is shown which has gained popularity since an outdoor Christmas tree burned inside a main city square of city.

    Videos circulating on social media show two masked men setting fire to a Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. The video also captures an HTS religious leader attempting to restrain the protesters in Suqaylabiyah square following the incident. He was also seen holding a cross in the video in support of the Christians, a rare act by conservative Islamists.

    Protesters took to the streets in several areas on Tuesday, including parts of the capital Damascus. In this video, demonstrators shout slogans against foreign fighters in the Qassa area near Damascus. They are also saying Syria is free, and that non-Syrians should leave.

    Meanwhile, protesters in the Bab Touma area, near Damascus, hold a cross and a Syrian flag and chant, “We will give our lives for our cross.”

    A protester identified as Georges explained to AFP, “If we cannot live in our country with our Christian faith then we will not live here.”

    Syria is host to a number of small ethnic groups as well as several religious ones. They include Kurds, Armenians, Assyrians, Christians, Druze, Alawite Shiites and Arab Sunnis. But the country’s Muslims, Shiites and Sunnis combined are the majority population.
