Rare Cold Wave Hits Saudi Arabia and Kuwait with Temperatures Below Zero and Snowfall.

Unprecedented weather is sweeping across the desert countries of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, with temperatures dropping below zero and snowfall reported in various areas.

In a rare occurrence for the region, temperatures in both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have plunged to minus 3 degrees Celsius. This dramatic drop is especially striking in these typically hot desert nations, where extreme heat is the norm for much of the year.

According to reports from Gulf News, Kuwait is experiencing particularly cold conditions, with rural and desert regions seeing temperatures fluctuate between minus 3 and minus 6 degrees Celsius. In addition to the cold, snowfall has been observed in several parts of the country, an unusual phenomenon for this region. The cold is being attributed to an extended high-pressure system caused by the interaction of cold upper atmosphere air and temperate air from the southwest.

Dahrar Al Ali, Executive Director of the Meteorological Department in Kuwait, explained that this high-pressure system is responsible for the cold wave, which is expected to continue until Friday, with gradual warming beginning thereafter.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia has also been gripped by a cold wave since December 15. The northern and eastern provinces, including Tabuk and Al Jawf, have experienced temperatures dropping to minus 3 degrees Celsius. In Riyadh, Mecca, Medina, and the coastal regions, temperatures have remained unusually low since Monday. The Meteorological Department has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel during the cold spell for safety reasons.

Both countries are experiencing a significant departure from their typical warm climates, marking an unusual meteorological event in the Middle East.
