All government officials and employees will receive dearness allowance.
The government has decided to provide dearness allowance to government officials and employees as well as those who have retired. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman gave this information in a briefing at his office on Sunday.
He said, “The issue of providing dearness allowance is timely. Therefore, the government has decided to provide dearness allowance to government officials and employees. This dearness allowance will be given to officials and employees from the lowest to the highest according to the salary scale.”
He said, “A committee has been formed for this purpose. The committee will make recommendations in this regard.”
Usually, dearness allowance is given in special circumstances. Therefore, this allowance is not added to the basic salary. As a result, there is no change in any other allowance including their house rent.
According to the information of the Ministry of Public Administration, about 1.45 million employees are working in various ministries, divisions, directorates, offices, corporations and autonomous institutions of the government. In the current 2024-25 fiscal year budget, an allocation of 81,580 crore taka has been made for their salaries and allowances.
There is no allocation for dearness allowance in the budget. However, based on the recommendations of the committee, this rate will be finalized and coordinated with other sectors of the operating budget.
