    Chinmoy’s arrest is illegal: Tulsi Gabbard.

    Chinmoy Krishna Das the expelled leader of ISKCON and spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jote is in jail after being arrested on charges of sedition.

    It is being claimed on Facebook that Tulsi Gabbard a former member of the US House of Representatives has commented that he was illegally arrested. Bangladeshi fact-checking organization FactWatch found in their investigation that Tulsi the intelligence chief nominated by the victorious US President Donald Trump did not comment on the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das.

    In verifying the authenticity of that claim Tulsi Gabbard’s Verified X (former Twitter), Facebook page and website did not find any comments from Tulsi about Chinmoy Krishna Das. Therefore, FactWatch is declaring the comment circulating on Facebook as false.

    FactWatch did not find any information about Tulsi Gabbard making any comments about Chinmoy Krishna Das in any Bangladeshi or international media outlets when searching for relevant keywords. Later a further search revealed references to Chinmoy Krishna Das and Tulsi Gabbard in a report published on Bangladeshi news portal BD News24 on Wednesday. The report said that during a regular press briefing on Tuesday, the country’s State Department’s principal deputy spokesperson Vedanta Patel spoke about religious freedom and fundamental human rights.

    To a question about the violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh Vedanta Patel said, “We are on the same page with every government with whom we have relations. Our position is clear – we must respect fundamental freedoms we must respect religious freedom and fundamental human rights.”

    Another question was asked in the briefing about Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari spokesperson for the Sanatani Jagran Jote. Chinmoy Das was introduced as the leader of ISKCON and it was said that Tulsi Gabbard, the national security chief nominated by the newly elected US President Donald Trump, is also a member of the organization.

    Then the questioner said, ‘Chinmoy Das has been illegally arrested and sent to jail and no one is willing to stand up for him because his lawyer was beaten and sent to the hospital. Will you take any action in this regard?’

    In response, Vedant Patel said, ‘I do not have detailed information about this incident. However, we will continue to press and press for those who are arrested to be able to provide proper representation and to be treated in accordance with basic freedoms and human rights.’

    That is, Tulsi Gabbard did not comment on the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, but Tulsi Gabbard was brought in to ask a question about the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das at the regular press briefing of the US State Department. This question later spread rumors on Facebook.
