Mamata’s statement on Bangladesh should be withdrawn immediately: Mirza Fakhrul.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded immediate withdrawal of such statements, calling the statement made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on sending UN peacekeepers to Bangladesh a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.
He expressed this reaction to the media over the phone from London on Monday night.
Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘The statement made by the Chief Minister of West Bengal of India, Mamata Banerjee, about sending peacekeepers to Bangladesh is completely a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. Mamata Banerjee’s statement should be withdrawn immediately. They should not even think of such things. Because the people of Bangladesh gained independence through the Liberation War and recently they regained democracy through a revolution. The people of this country will stand against such a conspiracy at any cost.’
NDTV reported that Trinamool leader Mamata, who joined the winter session of the assembly amid the news of the arrest of three priests of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bangladesh, has sought the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safety of religious minorities in Bangladesh.
Regarding the news of the Indian newspaper, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘The false stories being circulated and published in the Indian media about the deterioration or endangerment of communal harmony in Bangladesh are in no way acceptable. Indian journalists who came here also saw it, many renowned journalists from West Bengal and India came and saw that there is no such situation in Bangladesh. However, the way the Indian media and their leaders are spreading a complete lie and threatening the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh will never be accepted by the people of Bangladesh.’
The BNP Secretary General said, ‘The very unfortunate things that are being said about Bangladesh, the new conspiracy that has recently started in Bangladesh regarding ISKCON, will never be accepted by the people of Bangladesh. It is very clear that the recent role of ISKCON is very suspicious, mysterious and a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, to the stability of Bangladesh.’
