First meeting of new Election Commission is today
The first meeting of the new Election Commission (EC) is today. The meeting will be held at 11 am on Monday at the CEC meeting room at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon.
CEC AMM Nasir Uddin will preside over the first meeting of the 14th Election Commission. The meeting will be attended by four election commissioners, EC secretaries and additional secretaries, along with senior officials of the Election Commission.
Topics that may be discussed in the meeting are-
Formation of four separate committees led by four election commissioners to carry out various activities of the commission as per the provisions of Rule 3(2) of the Election Commission (Procedure) Rules 2010. Formulation of voter list update program. Informing the commission about objections received regarding the delimitation of the National Assembly and miscellaneous.
Earlier, former Secretary AMM Nasir Uddin was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner. In addition, the four people who have been appointed as Election Commissioners are- Retired Additional Secretary Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar, retired District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, retired Joint Secretary Tahmida Ahmed and Brigadier General (retired) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah.
