Chief Justice’s concern over egg-throwing incident at judge

Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed has expressed deep concern over the egg-throwing incident at a judge and the unsightly situation in the district court. The Supreme Court administration has expressed this concern in a press release on Thursday.

The press release signed by Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam said that the Chief Justice of Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the unprecedented and unsightly incidents that took place on November 27 at the Bangladesh Supreme Court premises and the unsightly situation that has arisen in the country’s district courts, including the Supreme Court premises.

It further said that the Bangladesh Supreme Court is closely monitoring the overall situation so that the country’s courts can provide justice to the litigants without any hindrance and assures that despite all the adversities and unsightly situations, justice services will continue to be provided in the country’s courts.

The Chief Justice has already taken necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of such a situation in the country’s courts and has directed all the courts and tribunals in the country to continue their normal activities and continue to provide justice to the people seeking justice in the larger interest of the country, the release said.

It is worth noting that on Wednesday, a High Court bench in 2016, due to comments made about former President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in the verdict on the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution case, there was a commotion and at one stage, eggs were thrown at the concerned judge. The judge then left the courtroom.

The incident took place at the High Court bench of Justice Md. Ashraful Kamal and Justice Kazi Waliul Islam around 2:30 pm on Wednesday while the trial was in progress.
