‘Bangladesh has lost a bright star in the death of Ruhul Amin’
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Chief Justice Ruhul Amin. At the same time, he expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased.
In a condolence message, he said, ‘Bangladesh has lost a bright star in the world of law in the death of former Chief Justice Ruhul Amin.’
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court’s Appellate and High Court divisions will remain closed today, Sunday, out of respect for the death of the former Chief Justice. However, administrative activities will continue. This information was given in a notification from the Supreme Court administration.
Former Chief Justice Md. Ruhul Amin died while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in the capital at around 4:30 am today. He was 83 years old at the time of his death.
The Supreme Court’s notification said that he had been receiving treatment at the hospital for several days due to various old-age related ailments.
The Supreme Court also said that the late former Chief Justice Md. Ruhul Amin’s funeral will be held on November 26 after Zohr at the Inner Court Yard of the main building of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. The funeral will be attended by the Chief Justice and judges of both divisions of the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
Ruhul Amin joined the country as the 15th Chief Justice on March 1, 2007. He retired on May 31, 2008.
