    The reasons why the government banned Chhatra League

    Interim government has banned Chhatra League as a terrorist organization. A notification in this regard has been issued from the Political Branch-2 of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday night. Senior Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen has signed the notification by order of the President. The notification has mentioned various reasons for banning the Chhatra League.

    It is said in the notification, since Bangladesh Awami League’s fraternal organization Bangladesh Chhatra League has been involved in various public security activities including killings, torture, common room-based oppression, seat trading in dormitories, tender betting, rape and sexual harassment during various times after the independence of Bangladesh, especially during the last 15 years of dictatorial regime, and these Relevant documentary information has been published in all the major media of the country and the guilt of the organization’s leaders and activists in some terrorist incidents has also been proved in court.

    It said, and whereas during the anti-discrimination student movement from July 15, Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders and activists carried out frenzied and reckless armed attacks on the protesting students and general public, killing hundreds of innocent students and persons and endangering the lives of countless others, and since the government has sufficient information- There is evidence that even after the downfall of the Awami League government on August 5.

    Bangladesh Chhatra League has been involved in conspiratorial, subversive and provocative activities against the state and various terrorist activities, therefore the government has sub-section (1) of section 18 of the ‘Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009’. , Bangladesh Awami League’s fraternal organization ‘Bangladesh Chhatra League’ was banned and listed the student organization ‘Bangladesh Chhatra League’ as a banned entity in Schedule-II of the Act.

    The notification also said that it will come into effect immediately.
