The body of the banker who drowned in Tanguar Haor has been found

A bank officer died after taking a bath in Sunamganj’s Tahirpur in Tanguar Haor. The accident took place at Tanguar Haor, a tourist center in Tahirpur Upazila of Sunamganj around 12 noon on Friday.

Tahirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Delwar Hossain confirmed the recovery of the body.

The name of the deceased bank official is Ali Ahsan (42). He was working as manager of principal office of Janata Bank in Dhaka.

According to local sources, a group of 34 people from Dhaka came to visit Haor. The houseboat in which they were stationed stopped at the watch-tower of Hower at around 12 noon. There everyone went down to the water for bathing. At that time there was a slight wave in Hawre.

At one point, everyone got on the boat after taking a bath, but Ali Ahsan was nowhere to be seen. Ali Ahsan has been missing ever since. Tahirpur Thana Police and Tahirpur Fire Service diving team came to the spot and started rescue operations with the help of local residents. The body of the bank official was recovered by the diving team of Tahirpur Fire Service around 5:15 pm.

OC Mohammad Delwar Hossain said that efforts are underway to contact the family of the deceased. Preparations are underway to prepare the condition report of the deceased and send it to Sunamganj for autopsy.
