    The body recovered from Jatrabari police station was Noornabir an Ansar member

    The identity of the person who was killed in Jatrabari police station on August 5 during the anti-discrimination movement of the students has been identified.

    The person named Noornabi (47) was working in Battalion Ansar. The police handed over the body to his wife Fatema Tuz Zohra and son Tajnoor Sifat from the Dhaka Medical College (DMH) hospital mortuary on Monday evening.

    The wife of the deceased Noornabi said that their house is in Purvaashwadia village of Noakhali Sadar Upazila. Noornavi’s father’s name is Abdur Rob. Her husband was working in Brahmanbaria-5 Battalion. On July 19, he was transferred to Safipur in Gazipur and on August 2, he was given duty at Jatrabari police station. The family spoke to him only once on August 5. He has not been found since then.

    Fatema Tuz Zohra also said, “It was not possible to identify Noornavi’s body by going to DMK Hospital. His body was mutilated. DNA samples were taken from me and my son to confirm identity. After confirming the DNA test, the police identified the body on Monday.

    Deputy Inspector (SI) of Jatrabari Police Station Morshed Ali said that Noornavi, a member of Ansar Battalion, was rescued from inside Jatrabari Police Station at around 7 am on August 7 and was taken to the Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital by the local doctors who declared her dead. From there, the body was sent to the mortuary. As the DNA samples of relatives of Ansar member Noornabi were matched with the body, her body was handed over from Dhamek mortuary on Monday evening.
