Foreign Ministry Secretary Khurshed Alam has resigned
Ministry of External Affairs Maritime Affairs Secretary Rear Admiral (Retd.) Khurshid Alam resigned yesterday.
He submitted his resignation on Sunday with a one-month notice period. Since 2009, this retired naval officer was working in this post on contractual basis.
Earlier on September 2, Khurshid Alam was assigned as acting foreign secretary in an office order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This information was informed in the office order signed by the Director General (Administration) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Nazmul Haque that day.
According to the office order, in view of the resignation of the former Foreign Secretary (Senior Secretary) Masood bin Momen on September 2, the Secretary of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rear Admiral (Retd.) Md Khurshid Alam, will perform the daily or urgent government functions of the Foreign Secretary until further orders has been accepted. He will remain in charge until further orders.
In 2009, Khurshid Alam was appointed on contractual basis in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Later, this ex-Navy officer was appointed contractually on January 11, 2018 as the head of the maritime affairs unit of the ministry.
