11 regions may experience storms
According to the Meteorological Office, storms and thunder with a maximum speed of 60 km can occur over 11 regions of the country including Dhaka.
This information has been informed in a warning issued for the internal river ports of the country till 1 pm on Tuesday.
According to the notification signed by Meteorologist Md Omar Farooq, a temporary gust of 45 to 60 km per hour from south or south-west over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet areas. A gale may blow. Rain or thundershowers may also occur.
Therefore, the river ports in these areas have been asked to show warning signal number 1.
Meanwhile, another weather bulletin said, the additional part of the axis of monsoon has extended across India’s Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central parts of Bangladesh to Assam. Also Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay of Bengal.
In this situation, the Meteorological Office says that light to moderate rain with gusty winds or rain with thunder may occur temporarily in all parts of the country. At this time, there may be moderate heavy rainfall in some parts of the country.
