Bank accounts of Sheikh Hasina’s son Joy, daughter Putul seized

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized the bank accounts of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajib Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul. Letters have been sent to banks and non-bank financial institutions on Monday.

According to the letter, the bank accounts of Sajib Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Puthul will remain suspended. For the next 30 days, you will not be able to make any kind of transaction. If necessary, the period of suspending the transaction will be extended. The relevant provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Rules shall apply to this order to suspend their transactions.

In the letter sent to the bank-financial institution, the name of Joy and Puthul, the information of the national identity card are given. BFIU has asked them to send their account related information or documents such as account opening form, KYC and transaction statement if the account is suspended.
