Adviser Asif clarified his political position
Advisor Asif Mahmud clarified his position on political affiliation. He made a post about this on the social media Facebook yesterday evening.
Asif wrote on Facebook, “One thing needs to be clarified. Currently I have no political affiliation.”
The first political initiative I was associated with in my university life (Student Rights Council) and other reasons including party politics, all the members of the committee resigned in the middle of last year while I was the president of the Dhaka University branch.
Although I did not want to bring these issues forward, I felt the need to clarify as confusion has arisen in many places. Now reform and reconstruction while maintaining national unity is one of the goals.
Notably, Asif led from the front and played an important role in the 2024 quota reform movement. He and his organization Anti-Discrimination Student Movement played a superhuman role in killing students and torturing protesters without trial.
On 8 August 2024, Asif Mahmood was appointed as an advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh and on 9 August was given charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. At the same time, on August 16, 2024, he was appointed as an advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
