BNP welcomes July declaration and election schedule: Mirza Fakhrul
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has welcomed the July declaration and the announcement of elections in February. The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this at a press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday (August 7) morning. At the press conference, Mirza Fakhrul said that the chief advisor announced the ‘July Declaration’ yesterday on August 5. BNP welcomes it. At the same time, he believes that the work of transforming into a new democratic Bangladesh will begin through fulfilling the commitments made by the political parties in this declaration. The possibility of building a progressive and prosperous Bangladesh based on equality, human values and justice will be created. Regarding the elections, he also said that BNP also welcomes the announcement made in the meeting of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus in London to hold elections in February 2026. BNP believes that this historic announcement will help overcome the political deadlock in Bangladesh and pave the way for the transition to democracy. Mirza Fakhrul said, BNP is hopeful that the government and the Election Commission will take all necessary measures to ensure that this election is fair, free, impartial and acceptable to all. Along with this, the BNP Secretary General made a strong appeal to all political parties and the people to make this election a success, institutionalize democracy and form an effective national parliament.
