How much hilsa is being sold in Kolkata
On the occasion of Durga Puja, Hilsa has started going from Bangladesh to West Bengal in India. In the meantime, it has started selling in various cities including Kolkata, the capital of the state.
According to Indian news media, Bangladeshi hilsa has been sold in different markets including Kolkata and Howrah since Friday morning. 800-1200 grams weight per kg is being sold at Rs.1200-1600. In Bangladesh currency which is 1700-2300 taka.
18 tons of hilsa reached Kolkata through Benapole-Petrapole port on Thursday. 200 boxes of hilsa in two trucks arrived at Benapole port on Wednesday afternoon. Later on Thursday, the hilhas entered Kolkata through Petrapol.
The export price of fish is USD 10 per kg. Which is about 1200 taka in Bangladeshi taka. And 840 rupees in Indian currency. The retail sale of hilsa is determined based on the import price.
Bangladesh has allowed a total of 2,400 metric tons of hilsa to be exported to India. Buyers think that the price will decrease further if all Hilsa reaches West Bengal.
