4 people died due to lightning in Sylhet
Four people died in one day due to lightning in Sylhet. They died in separate incidents on Saturday. Among them, two died in Jaintapur upazila and two in Kanighat upazila of the district. One person was also reported injured due to lightning.
The deceased are Nahid Ahmad (13) son of Nurul Haque of Agfoud village of Jaintapur union, Abdul Mannan Monai (45) son of Kala Mia of Vitrikhel Babraband village of the same union, Masuk Uddin alias Kala Mia (40) son of Jamshed Ali of Keutihaur area of Kanaighat upazila and North of Kanaighat municipality. Nur Uddin (60), son of Tota Mia of Dalirmathi village.
According to local sources, Nur Uddin and others were fishing in the field of North Dalirmathi (Khelurban) village of Kanaighat municipality during the thunderstorm around 4 pm. Meanwhile, Nur Uddin died due to a thunderous sound. Four other people who were with Nur Uddin were injured in this incident. They have been treated at Upazila Health Complex.
Jahangir Hossain Sardar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanighat police station said, “Two people died due to lightning.” After receiving the information, the police recovered the body. The body has been handed over to the relatives in view of the appeal of the family of Kala Mia, one of the deceased.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jaintapur Model Police Station Tajul Islam said, “On receiving the news of death due to lightning, the police recovered two bodies from the spot.”
