Dr. Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka for New York
Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the interim government, has left for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly session.
He left the capital’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with his traveling companions on a Qatar Airlines flight at 5:05 am on Monday morning.
It is known that the chief advisor will hold a high-level meeting with the Netherlands, Pakistan, Nepal, the head of the European Commission, the US Secretary of State. However, there is no possibility of discussion with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bangladesh will urge the international community to play its role strongly in the Rohingya issue, at the UN session.
The high-level conference on the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly will begin on September 24. Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus will address the session on September 27.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s membership in the United Nations. On this occasion, Bangladesh organized a high-level reception at the United Nations Headquarters in the presence of the Chief Advisor. In addition to the heads of delegations of various countries, some top local officials of the United Nations, heads of states, heads of various organizations will participate in the event.
The Chief Advisor will leave for Dhaka from New York on Friday night after completing the tour.
