Railway running staff have started a strike as the issue of pension and gratuity has not been resolved by adding running allowance to salary. This has stopped train services across the country. As a result, passengers coming to the railway station have been facing extreme hardship. Although passengers will get a refund for tickets purchased before the train journey was canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The running staff did not board the scheduled trains after 12 midnight on Monday. As a result, no train left the starting station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passengers coming to the capital’s Kamalapur railway station have been facing hardship since early this morning. They claim that if they had been informed in advance, they would not have faced such a situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passengers said that no one coming to the station knew that train services were suspended. So they had to face trouble when they came to the counter. The suffering of passengers who brought their families in the winter has reached its peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passenger and freight trains have been seen standing on the station platform and other lines since morning. However, there is no engine with any of the trains. None of the running staff, TTEs, guards and train drivers working at the station were seen. Hundreds of passengers are coming and going to the station to go to different places. The station’s microphone is announcing that the train service is to be suspended due to unavoidable reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, Rezaul Karim Siddiqui, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Railways, said that despite the demands of the running staff of Bangladesh Railway being largely accepted, they have not deviated from their previously scheduled program. Due to this, rail services may be disrupted from today, January 28. However, if the train journey is canceled, the money for previously purchased tickets will be refunded by Bangladesh Railway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bangladesh Railway Running Staff and Workers’ Employees Association had announced a strike as their demands for pensions and related benefits along with running allowances were not met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
