Zelensky wants direct talks with Putin
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to hold direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Saturday (April 4). During the meeting, Erdogan reiterated his call for Russia-Ukraine dialogue and stressed the importance of safe navigation and security of energy supplies in the Black Sea. He also highlighted the need to increase trade and security cooperation with Ukraine.
Zelensky, on the other hand, said he was ready to hold direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Expressing his interest in a meeting at the level of leaders “in any format”, he said that Kiev welcomed the initiative to hold talks in Istanbul under the mediation of Turkey. Zelensky said that Ukraine is emphasizing the activation of diplomatic channels to stop the war.
