Zaman Tower fire brought under control, 2 rescued
The fire at Zaman Tower in the capital’s Nayapaltan was brought under control after two hours. The fire was brought under control at 7:35 am on Wednesday. Two people were rescued alive in the incident, the Fire Service said.
Anwarul Islam Dolan, an officer of the media cell at the Fire Service headquarters, confirmed the matter. He said the fire was brought under control at 7:35 am. Damping-down work is currently underway.
Anwarul Islam Dolan said that considering the risk, 14 units were sent to control the fire at Zaman Tower. Out of these, 9 units have worked to control the fire.
He said, “We have rescued two people alive from the building so far.” However, the Fire Service official could not initially provide any information about the damage.
Earlier, the Fire Service received news of the fire at 5:34 am on Wednesday. At 7:15 am, the Fire Service control room reported that a fire broke out on the fourth and fifth floors of Zaman Tower. 13 units of the Fire Service are working to control the fire.
At that time, the duty officer of the control room, Rakibul Islam, said that the first unit of the fire service reached the spot at 5:40 am after receiving the news of a fire on the fourth floor of Zaman Tower in Nayapaltan and started working. After that, 13 units reached the spot step by step.
Rakibul Islam could not immediately provide any information about casualties or damage.
