Zakaria, associate of Abed Ali, mastermind of question paper leak, banned from leaving the country

The court has ordered a ban on Zakaria, a retired driver of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) and associate of Syed Abed Ali Jiban, the mastermind of the question paper leak, from leaving the country. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Sabbir Faiz gave this order after the hearing today (January 4). The investigating officer of the case, ACC Assistant Director Al-Amin, applied for a ban on leaving the country.
The application states that Syed Abed Ali Jiban has made unusual and suspicious banking transactions with various people. Among them is Md. Zakaria Rahman. According to reliable sources, Zakaria is involved in an organized question paper leak ring as a government official and is trying to flee the country. In such a situation, it is necessary to issue an order prohibiting him from going abroad until the investigation of the case is completed and in the interest of a fair investigation. Zakaria is the son of Shafiqur Rahman of Dhaora village in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
Police arrested Abed Ali on July 8, 2024, in connection with the question-and-answer leak. He has been in jail since then. On January 5, the ACC filed a case against Abed Ali Jiban on charges of acquiring illegal assets of more than Tk 5 crore and making unusual transactions of about Tk 45 crore.
