Youth slaughtered to death over past dispute

A youth named Sohel was slaughtered to death by the people of the opposing faction in Chuadanga Sadar. The murder took place at some point on Monday (December 1) night at the Dar field of Belgachi Esimor Banglar. It is learned that the deceased Sohel (20) is the son of Ashabul Haque of Belgachi Para of Chuadanga Municipality.
Chuadanga Sadar Police Station OC Khalidur Rahman said that Sohel and his father Ashabul Haque used to cut date palm trees together at the Dar field of Belgachi Esimor Banglar in Chuadanga. Faruk’s guava garden in Joardar Para of Belgachi is nearby. Sohel said that he had broken the branch of Faruk’s guava tree, and a fight broke out between the two. At that time, Faruk hit Sohel and seriously injured him. As a result, sometime last night, Faruk and his men found Sohel alone in the field and slaughtered him with sharp weapons and hacked him to death.
In the morning, local people came to work in the field and found Sohel’s bloody body lying in the corn field. It is learnt that the police reached the spot, recovered the body of the deceased and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, the police operation to arrest the accused is ongoing, the police official said.
