Youth shot dead after entering house

Killers entered a house in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi and shot dead a youth late at night. The murder took place at Palashi Fatepur Karali Nowshara Char in Chakrajapur Union of the upazila around 1 am on Saturday (January 3).
The deceased youth is Sohel Rana (35), son of Kalu Mandal of Palashi Fatepur Karali Nowshara Char in Chakrajapur Union. Sohel Rana’s wife and daughter were injured in the incident. Later, locals rescued them and admitted them to Bagha Upazila Health Complex.
The brother of the deceased Sohel Rana said that Sohel Rana and his wife were sleeping inside the house at night. At that time, some armed terrorists hit the roof of the house several times and made a loud noise. This woke up the people around and spread panic in the area. When the people started running, the terrorists threatened that they would shoot anyone who came forward.
Later, the terrorists entered Sohel Rana’s house. At that time, Sohel’s wife tried to cover her husband with clothes and blankets to protect him. However, the terrorists entered the house by cutting the tin roof and fired several shots in succession. One of the bullets hit Sohel Rana in the stomach. He died on the spot. His wife and daughter were injured in the gunfire. In this regard, Bagha Police Station Inspector (OC Investigation) Suprabhat Mandal said, “Based on a previous murder incident, the miscreants deliberately entered Sohel Rana’s house in the dark of night and shot him dead. On receiving information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. The body is being sent to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken in this incident.”
