Youth sentenced to one year in prison for harassing a young woman in Akhaura

A mobile court has sentenced a young man named Johnny Mia (25) to one year in prison for harassing a young woman at Akhaura Railway Junction. This was announced by Akhaura Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Kafil Uddin Mahmud on Wednesday (April 1) afternoon.
Johnny Mia is the son of Hossain Mia, a resident of Gouripur village in Mushapur union of Raipur upazila of Narsingdi district.
Executive Magistrate Md. Kafil Uddin Mahmud said that the administration is steadfast in its zero tolerance policy to protect women’s safety and social order. No one will be spared if the safety of passengers at the station is disrupted. The convicted youth has been sent to the custody of the Railway Police.
